How are taxes calculated on these homes and what would be a typical tax bill on a 500k Villa?
Tom, Collier County imposes taxes on the assessed value of a given property. It is not assessed off the purchase price but rather the area’s home values given the common relation to the subject property. For example, a $500k Villa may only be assessed at $400k (based off similar tax history) and the tax rate is roughly 1.25% so the taxes would be around $5,000. You can homestead your home with the county and knock off $50k of value and therefore reduce the tax amount. Call me anytime @ 239 784 1301 for more help!
